Here's All the 2020 Addiction Treatment Industry Events That Have Been Cancelled So Far

2020 is shaping up to be an interesting year for addiction treatment conferences. Here’s the skinny on what’s cancelled and what’s not.

The addiction treatment community attends many conferences every year, but 2020 is looking to be a little different as some major events have been cancelled, postponed, or moved online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At BehaveHealth, we’ve compiled a handy list of addiction treatment conferences in the United States with their COVID-19 status as of May 1st, 2020.

We want to help you answer the question: “Has my addiction treatment conference been cancelled?” quickly and easily.

ASAM Virtual 2020

ASAM responded to the crisis quickly and pivoted to a virtual conference early in the year.

ASAM’s 51st conference was one of the first conferences to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Slated to take place in Texas from April 22nd to April 24th, the conference was moved entirely online and dubbed “ASAM VIrtual 2020.” Registration was still required to attend the digital conference, which was moved to April 3rd and 4th. Other webinars took place over the month of April, with some on-demand learning opportunities still available at any time through the conference’s “e-Learning Center.”

HMP Global Conferences Cancellations

HMP Global is one of several conference hosting companies in the addiction treatment world that is responding to the COVID-19 crisis.

HMP Global hosts such well known addiction treatment conferences as:

  • Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit

  • National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) East

  • National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) West

  • Cocaine, Meth & Stimulant Summit

  • Treatment Center Investment & Valuation Retreat (TCIV)

HMP Global is “closely monitoring the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.” They moved their Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit to a virtual format in April in response to the pandemic (and you can get all the sessions online on-demand until April 2021 here) but currently the rest of their conferences are all “proceeding as planned.” You can check on the status of their conferences here.

C4 Events Conferences Cancellations

So far, C4 has only cancelled one conference in response to the COVID-19 pandemic: the CORE conference.

C4 Events is the medical events coordinator behind the following conferences:

  • CORE: Clinical Overview of the Recovery Experience

  • CCSAD Cape Cod Symposium on Addictive Disorders

  • Evolution of Addiction Treatment

  • West Coast Symposium on Addictive Disorders

Like HMP Global, C4 reports that they are “closely monitoring the situation.” So far, they have cancelled only one of their conferences: the CORE conference slated to take place this summer. As they wait to decide the fate of the remaining conferences for 2020, they scheduled a special webinar about COVID-19 for addiction treatment providers. You can learn more about that webinar here.
